Arsene Wenger says Arsenal can afford Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney

Gunners could pay England striker’s reported £250,000-a-week wages.
Arsene Wenger has again hinted at Arsenal’s new financial clout after
admitting the club “would not have a problem” affording Wayne Rooney’s
wages.
Rooney has reportedly been left “angered and confused” by comments from
new United boss David Moyes and was the subject of a rejected bid from
Chelsea this week.
The England striker, 27, is thought to be on at least £250,000-a-week wages
at Old Trafford and would likely cost in excess of £30m.
The Gunners lost Robin van Persie to United for £23m last summer but the
Frenchman believes there is no reason why former Everton star Rooney
couldn’t move in the opposite direction.
“It happened to us last year and it can happen to them,” Wenger is quoted as
saying by Sky Sports .
“Rooney is under contract and has two years to go so it’s United who make
the decision. But we would not have a problem with the wages of Rooney.”
