Cops: Boy, 16, shot by robbers In Chicago demanding bike

A 16-year-old boy shot during a West Englewood robbery was one of
at least 6 people shot Tuesday evening into this morning, according
to police.
About 7:53 p.m., several male assailants approached the 16-year-old
as he rode his bike down the 1800 block of West 71st Street, said
Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The group demanded the boy's bicycle, and when he tried to ride
away, someone pulled out a gun and fired several times, Zala said.
The teen sustained gunshot wounds to the thigh and buttocks and
was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where
his condition was stabilized.
The males fled with the bicycle and have not been taken into
custody.
In the most recent shooting, a man believed to be in his 30s was
shot in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.
The man was shot about 1 a.m. in the 0-100 block of South Kostner
Avenue, News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in
serious condition.
About 10 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot in the 2900 block of East
89th Street, police said.
The man was shot in the arm and taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital,
where he was listed in good condition.
About the same time, a 28-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by
shooting in the Englewood neighborhood.
Someone opened fire from a black sedan as the man was standing on
the sidewalk, striking the man in the foot, Alfaro said.
An acquaintance tok the man to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was
listed in good condition.
About two hours earlier in the the Rogers Park neighborhood, a 20-
year-old man was shot about 8:05 p.m. in the 7200 block of North
Sheridan Road.
The man was struck in the shoulder and both legs and taken to St.
Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition was stabilized.
About 7:30 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 3500
block of S. Vincennes Avenue. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where
his condition was stabilized.
